The 12 month rehabilitation program is divided into two stages. Phase I includes group classes, character development, relational guidance, social skills and recreation. To emphasize the educational aspects of the program, Teen Challenge refers to its residents as “students.” Phase II concentrates on academic and vocational advancement. The student is tutored in developing positive attitudes, trustworthiness, concern for others and a strong sense of responsibility.
Eligibility Requirements
Teen Challenge GTA is situated on 87 acres of land near King CIty, Ontario and has the capacity to house up to 60 young women. The facility includes a chapel and sanctuary, office building, staff housing and student dormitories.
Over 70% Cure Rate
Originally founded in New York City by David Wilkerson, the Teen Challenge program now has over 500 autonomous residential and outreach centres in over 80 countries and is regarded as one of the most successful drug and alcohol rehabilitation organizations in the world. The emphasis is on helping people break the bondage of substance abuse and has resulted in a documented recovery rate in excess of 70% for men and women who complete the program. Similar secular programs offer a success rate between 5% and 25%.
